Hormone balance happens as a result of natural aging. During childbearing years, the ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone to promote pregnancy.
As you age, production slows down and ceases entirely during middle age. When your ovaries stop producing hormones naturally, your body overreacts.
You may notice signs of peri-menopause in your mid-40’s, and most women experience total menopause no later than their 60’s. You’re considered menopausal if you haven’t had a period in at least a year.
Even women well past menopause can experience the symptoms of hormone imbalance. You might also experience peri-menopause, which is the period leading up to total menopause.
During this time, you may notice unfamiliar and uncomfortable changes. You should always consult with your doctor if you notice abnormal symptoms.
